Before you start
- An existing, active Rattib account with setup completed and Google linked. Free, Pro, and Pro Plus accounts can connect.
- ChatGPT on the web with permission to add custom MCP connections. Availability depends on your ChatGPT account and workspace settings.
- A few minutes to sign in and choose which inventory ChatGPT can read. This guide does not sign you in or read your inventory.
This is an early-access custom connection, not a listing in ChatGPT’s public directory. The connection addresses still include staging; use the exact settings below.
Link Google in Rattib
- Open Rattib and stay signed in to the account that contains your inventory.
- Open Profile → Sign-in methods, then link Google if it is not already linked.
- Use that same Google account when connecting Rattib in ChatGPT.
Originally signed in with Apple? Link Google while still signed in to that existing Rattib account. Do not create a second Rattib account for this connection. Matching email addresses alone do not link accounts.
Your ChatGPT login email can be different. What matters is the Google account you choose during the Rattib connection sign-in.
Add the connection in ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT Plugins (opens in a new tab), select +, then Add custom MCP server. Suggested name: Rattib — inventory.
Under Connection, use the following server URL and choose OAuth for authentication.
https://mcp-selfhost-staging.rattib.com/mcp
Open Advanced OAuth settings and choose User-Defined OAuth Client.
rattib-chatgpt
- Client Secret
- Leave empty
- Token endpoint auth method
none- Scopes
- Select
profile:readandinventory:read - Optional editing scope
- Also select
inventory:editonly if you want ChatGPT to edit existing inventory - Base scopes
- Leave empty
- OIDC enabled
- Off
No secret is needed. Do not enter a Google client secret, API key, or password. Use User-Defined OAuth Client, not Dynamic Client Registration.
Review ChatGPT’s custom-connection warning. If you agree, accept it and select Create as a plugin. Install the resulting plugin if ChatGPT asks you to.
Sign in and choose your access
- Continue with the Google account linked in step 1. The Rattib sign-in opens at
auth-staging.rattib.com. - Check that the Rattib account shown is yours.
- Select the current Spaces you want to share. Include current Outside Items if you want ChatGPT to find those too. Nothing is selected automatically.
- Review and approve the requested read-only or editing permission, then return to ChatGPT. Editing requires its own explicit consent.
New Spaces need new permission. Choosing all current Spaces does not grant access to future Spaces. New items inside a selected Space can be read, subject to your current permissions. Outside access covers the items selected at consent time, not every future Outside Item.
To include additional Spaces or Outside Items later, disconnect the old grant, then reconnect and choose your updated scope.
Start with a question
In a ChatGPT conversation, type @ and select your installed Rattib plugin. Ask it to use Rattib, for example:
- “Use Rattib to find my chargers in the bedroom. Tell me their Space names.”
- “What could I take from my inventory for a fishing trip? Check all available pages.”
- “List the items in my travel Space, including quantities and descriptions.”
Large inventories arrive in pages. A first response may be only a partial list; ask ChatGPT to continue until there are no more pages. There is no total 25- or 200-item connection limit, but only the inventory you authorized is available.
ChatGPT can read item details, Space names, locations, quantities, categories, notes, linked-item references, and available current AI descriptions. AI descriptions are supporting context, not verified facts. Check important answers against Rattib.
Optional edits to existing inventory
With the editing scope, ask ChatGPT to update an existing Item’s name, description, quantity, category, notes, or saved AI description; edit an existing Space’s name, notes, status, or location; or move a whole Item to an existing Space. Categories, statuses, locations, and destination Spaces must already exist. Source and destination must be in your selected access and you must be an Owner, not a Guest.
Review the exact records and changes before approving a tool action. Changes affect the same inventory used by the Rattib app and other Owners. Partial-quantity moves, moving to Outside, adding, deleting, duplicating, combining, photo changes, sharing changes, and Checklist edits are not supported through this connection.
Already connected? Your read-only connection remains read-only. Refresh the tool list and reconnect with inventory:edit selected, then approve the new editing consent. If ChatGPT cannot change the connection’s scopes, create a separate connection with the settings above. Never share a client secret.
You stay in control
The connection can read your profile and authorized inventory. Only a separately approved editing connection can change existing Owner-editable records. It cannot create or delete Items or Spaces, or change sharing. Photos and Checklists are not provided through this connection. Your existing sharing permissions still apply.
Information retrieved through the connection is sent to ChatGPT for your conversation. Only connect the Spaces and Outside Items you are comfortable sharing. This website stores no connection credentials.
You can stay connected between conversations, but may occasionally need to sign in again. To stop future access, open Manage Rattib connections (opens in a new tab), sign in with the same Google account, and choose Disconnect. You can also remove the plugin in ChatGPT.
Disconnecting does not delete information already shared in a ChatGPT conversation, or undo edits already saved. Manage that content separately in ChatGPT and review saved changes in Rattib. Read the Rattib Privacy Policy before connecting.
If something needs a second look
I cannot find “Add custom MCP server”
Use ChatGPT on the web. Check the account and workspace you are signed into; custom connections may be restricted by workspace permissions or security settings. Rattib cannot enable this ChatGPT feature for you.
OpenAI’s current setup instructions (opens in a new tab) describe the supported entry point.
It says my Rattib account is not eligible
Finish setup in the Rattib app and check Profile → Sign-in methods. Connect using the exact Google account linked there. An email match is not enough. If Google is not linked, link it while signed in to your existing inventory account.
ChatGPT asks for a client secret, or sign-in fails
Recheck step 2: Client ID rattib-chatgpt, User-Defined OAuth Client, token endpoint auth method none, Client Secret and Base scopes empty, OIDC off, and both read scopes selected. Do not paste Google developer credentials.
It sees only some of my items
First ask ChatGPT to continue through every available page. Then check the consent you gave: only selected current Spaces and selected Outside Items are included. Newly created Spaces or newly Outside Items may need a fresh connection consent. Lost sharing access also removes those records from what ChatGPT can read.
I need help connecting
Email support@rattib.com with the step that failed and the visible error. Remove personal inventory details from screenshots. Never send passwords, sign-in codes, or secrets.
Setup checked October 19, 2026. ChatGPT labels and availability can change.
